Privacy policy
Last updated: October 16, 2026
This text is a draft and must be reviewed by a lawyer before publication.
This policy explains how your personal data is collected, used and protected on libro.uz and in the Libro app (together, "Libro").
1. What data we collect
Libro collects only the data needed to run the service:
- Account: your phone number, optionally your name, and your interface language. There are no passwords: you sign in with a code sent to the Libro bot in Telegram or by SMS. If you use the bot, your number is linked to your Telegram account.
- Sign-in and devices: IP address, browser or app type, device model name, a random device identifier created by the app, and sign-in times.
- Reading: book statuses, shelves, your wishlist, your reading position, bookmarks (with a short snippet of the book text) and saved quotes.
- Reviews: ratings, review text, "Helpful" marks and reports. A review shows your first name and the first letter of your surname.
- Orders: order and payment history. Payment happens on the payment provider's own page; Libro does not receive or store your card details.
2. What we do not collect
Libro does not collect your location, contacts, photos, microphone data or advertising identifiers. There are no ads, and user behaviour is not tracked for advertising or analytics.
The camera in the app is used only to scan a book's ISBN barcode: the image is processed on your device, is not saved or sent, and only the code itself is sent to look the book up in the catalog.
3. Why we use your data
- Signing you in and protecting your account (a sign-in code is valid for 5 minutes and is not stored in readable form).
- Running your library and reading, and syncing your reading position between devices.
- Protecting the rights of authors and publishers (see the next section).
- Moderating reviews, preventing abuse and providing support.
- Meeting legal requirements, including accounting.
4. Protecting books
To protect the rights of authors and publishers, up to 3 devices can be used on one account; you can see the list under "My devices".
The text fragments delivered for reading also carry an invisible mark linked to your account. It does not change how the text looks, but it makes it possible to trace the source of a leak if a book is distributed illegally.
5. Who we share data with
We do not sell your data. We share it only with providers who take part in running the service: delivery of sign-in codes (Telegram, SMS provider), payment providers and data storage services. We also disclose data to authorities when the law requires it.
6. How long we keep data
Your data is kept while your account exists. When an account is deleted, reading data, reviews and quotes are deleted too. Records of orders and payments are kept for the period required by law and are de-identified.
7. Your rights
You can ask for your data, correct it and delete your account. You delete the account yourself: in the app under Profile → “Delete account”, on the website under Library → “Delete account”. For anything else, write to the address below; you can also change your name in the app profile.
8. Cookies
The site uses only necessary cookies: for signing in, choosing a language and recognising your device in the reader. No advertising or analytics cookies are used.
9. Security and changes
Data is sent over the network in encrypted form and books are delivered in protected form. No system is completely secure, so do not hand your device or your sign-in codes to other people.
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page and the date above will be updated.
